Santee firefighters have received new fire hoses and nozzles through a grant from the San Diego Regional Fire Foundation and the San Diego River Conservancy, according to reporting from East County Magazine and a city announcement.
The city said the equipment is intended to improve reliability, water-flow control and durability for crews responding to structure fires and wildland incidents. The grant amount was not listed in the city announcement.
The equipment upgrade lands at a practical moment for Santee, where the San Diego River corridor remains a persistent wildfire concern near homes, parks and trails. East County Magazine also noted earlier investments tied to fuel reduction and wildfire mitigation along the riverbed.
Santee leaders are separately moving ahead with long-term fire infrastructure planning, including an interim fourth fire station at Woodglen Vista Park and a future permanent station near City Hall. East County Magazine reported the interim facility is projected at about $4.7 million, while the permanent station is estimated at about $34 million.
For residents, the near-term takeaway is simple: firefighters are getting updated front-line equipment now, while the larger station planning continues. Source: East County Magazine โ https://eastcountymagazine.org/grant-brings-santee-fire-department-needed-upgraded-hoses-and-more/
