Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Santee Collision on Poplin Drive

A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday after a two-vehicle collision in Santee, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and City News Service.

Deputies responded around 10:35 a.m. to the 7900 block of Poplin Drive after reports of a crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian. Sheriff's officials said the pedestrian was trapped between the vehicles when deputies arrived and had severe injuries.

Deputies provided first aid and applied a tourniquet to help control significant bleeding while waiting for paramedics, according to the report. The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a hospital for further treatment.

One driver remained at the scene, was medically evaluated and cooperated with investigators. Officials said alcohol and drugs had not been determined to be factors in the collision.
