San Diego County health officials are urging parents and caregivers to throw out or return Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula after the product was linked to a multistate infant botulism outbreak involving California, Pennsylvania and Washington.\n\nNara Organics has voluntarily recalled all lots of its Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula sold online at Nara.com and Target.com and in Target stores from July 2025 through June 2026, according to the County News Center. County Environmental Health and Quality staff are working with local retailers to make sure the product is removed from shelves.\n\nThe U.S. Food and Drug Administration says the investigation is ongoing. The agency reported three confirmed or suspected infant botulism illnesses, all involving hospitalized infants, and said parents and caregivers should stop using the recalled formula immediately.\n\nInfant botulism is rare but serious and primarily affects babies younger than 6 months. Symptoms can include constipation, poor feeding, weak crying, loss of head control and trouble swallowing. County officials said families should seek medical care right away if a baby shows symptoms after drinking the recalled formula.\n\nFor Santee families, the practical step is simple: check any Nara Organics formula at home, do not use it, and follow FDA guidance on saving opened containers in case health officials need to test them.
