A body was found Saturday in a drainage canal in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department account reported by 10News.

Police said they received a call around 1 p.m. from a resident who reported a lifeless body in a canal near the 1400 block of East Washington Avenue. Officers arrived and confirmed the person was dead.

The Medical Examiner has taken over the investigation, according to the report. Authorities had not released the person's identity, cause of death or manner of death as of the 10News report.
