A driver was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a vehicle crashed into a Santee home, ruptured a gas line and sparked a fire, according to ABC 10News and the Santee Fire Department.
The crash happened around 9 a.m. in the 10000 block of Shenandoah Drive. Authorities said a single driver lost control and hit the single-family home at a high rate of speed.
The impact ruptured a gas line and caused a fire, forcing the evacuation of five homes. Crews rescued the trapped driver, who was taken to a hospital for injuries.
The homeowner was able to get out of the house, and no other injuries were reported, according to the report. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
