Santee Opens Sandbag Site as City Prepares for El Niño Season

By Santee Pulse Staff · Published October 6, 2026 · 3 min read

Santee opened its El Niño preparedness page for the fall and winter rainy season, saying sand and sandbags are available now for residents while supplies last.

The city says the sandbag station is at the Public Services Operations Center, 9534 Via Zapador. Residents must fill their own bags, and the city advises arranging for sandbags before a storm arrives.

The page, last updated Tuesday morning, also tells residents to report non-emergency drainage concerns through the MySanteeCA app and to call 911 for emergencies or immediate danger. The city lists no active closures or service impacts as of the update.

Santee officials say they are preparing through drainage maintenance, facility inspections, coordination with Caltrans, the County of San Diego and Padre Dam Municipal Water District, and emergency response planning.

The information comes from the City of Santee’s El Niño preparedness page, which residents can check for current storm updates and preparedness resources.
