$2.5M Revitalization Plan for Casa de Oro Moves to Engineering Phase

A long-planned revitalization of Casa de Oro's commercial core is moving from concept to concrete design, with San Diego County officials inviting residents to review engineering plans at a public workshop later this month.

The Campo Road Corridor Revitalization project targets a 60-acre area between Rogers Road and Granada Avenue, the heart of the Casa de Oro community near Rancho San Diego and Mount Helix. Planners hope to create a more cohesive village feel with safer roads, improved sidewalks and better pedestrian crossings to reduce car dependency.

The project is backed by a $2.5 million Housing Acceleration Program grant from the San Diego Association of Governments. The funding will support engineering and design work needed to turn the Campo Road Corridor Revitalization Specific Plan into reality. County officials say the design is being crafted to reflect the needs of residents and business owners in the area.

The public workshop is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Rancho San Diego Library, 11555 Via Rancho San Diego. Attendees will be able to provide feedback on preliminary engineering plans before they are finalized.

The County's Department of Public Works and Planning & Development Services are partnering on the project, which includes creating better road layouts that prioritize safety and enhancing infrastructure to support walkability. More information is available on the county's project website.
