San Diego County has begun the next phase of its Lindo Lake revitalization project in Lakeside, bringing temporary closures to parts of the park while crews work to improve the lake's ecological health, according to ABC 10News.

The work focuses on the West Basin and includes temporarily removing water from the lake, regrading the bottom and restricting pedestrian access in several areas. Closures include the north side of the lake near Lakeshore Drive and Boathouse Island.

The county's broader revitalization effort follows years of concerns about water quality at Lindo Lake. A senior county parks project manager told 10News the lake is primarily fed by stormwater, which can affect conditions in and around the lake.

The latest phase is supported by a $2 million grant from the San Diego River Conservancy. County officials expect the work to be completed by winter 2027.

For Santee residents who use Lindo Lake for walks, fishing, youth sports or weekend trips into Lakeside, the main takeaway is access: expect construction fencing, partial closures and changing routes around the park while the project continues.
