Three women were hospitalized after an assault Sunday afternoon at a Spring Valley independent living facility, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station responded just before 5 p.m. Sept. 13 to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 8100 block of Cacus Street. Sheriff's officials said the victims were 80, 73 and 62 years old, and that two of the three victims were elderly.
The Sheriff's Office said the suspect, 62-year-old Gregory Wilkerson, was also a resident at the facility. Wilkerson was arrested on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of elder abuse, committing a felony while out on bail and resisting an officer, according to the agency.
The Sheriff's Elder Abuse Unit took over the investigation. East County residents with information were asked to call the unit at 858-285-6111 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
