Two San Diego men were arrested in connection with the 2025 homicide of Ruben Cervantes in Spring Valley, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office said Friday.
The Sheriff's Office said Cervantes, 52, was physically assaulted Jan. 19, 2025, inside his motorhome in the 500 block of Sweetwater Road. Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station were dispatched Jan. 23, 2025, to assist the Fire Department with a medical aid call at the motorhome, and Cervantes was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office determined the death was a homicide caused by the assault, according to the department. Sheriff's homicide investigators identified the suspects as Adrian Garcia, 28, and Issac Santana, 26, both residents of the city of San Diego.
Garcia and Santana were arrested June 3, 2026, on suspicion of murder and booked into San Diego County Central Jail, sheriff's officials said. The case remains active, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
Spring Valley is outside Santee city limits, but the case is relevant for nearby East County residents who follow regional crime and court developments involving sheriff's patrol areas. Source: San Diego County Sheriff's Office, https://www.sdsheriff.gov/Home/Components/News/News/4266/514
