SPRING VALLEY โ A bystander intervened to stop an attack on two women in Spring Valley on Saturday morning, leaving the suspect injured and leading to his arrest, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies responded to the 3100 block of Bancroft Drive shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday after reports of two women being assaulted. When a passerby stepped in to stop the attack, an altercation ensued that left the suspect with injuries requiring hospitalization.
Andres Sandoval, 47, was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes, including sexual battery, according to Sheriff's Sgt. Timothy Clark. One of the victims sustained a minor injury during the assault and was evaluated by paramedics at the scene.
"During the assault, one of the victims sustained a minor injury and was evaluated by paramedics on scene," Clark said. "Sandoval was injured during the altercation with the passerby and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment."
Sandoval's relationship with the two women was not known. The investigation remains ongoing.
