Santee households served by San Diego Gas & Electric should see a $32.58 natural gas credit on April bills through the California Climate Credit, according to Patch. The credit is funded through California's Cap-and-Invest program and is intended to offset part of the cost of energy as the state pushes to reduce emissions.
A separate $49.36 electric credit, which previously appeared on April and October bills, may move to higher-cost months later this year. That change would still need approval from the California Public Utilities Commission at an April 30 vote.
For Santee residents, the shift matters because summer electric bills often climb during hotter inland months. Moving the electric credit to August and September could provide more meaningful relief when air conditioning use is typically highest across East County.
Billing cycles vary, so not every customer will see the credit at the exact same time this month. Customers who want to confirm when it will appear can check their SDG&E bill details or account dashboard.
Patch first reported the update, including comments from SDG&E about the program and the proposed timing change.
