Borrego Springs residents and visitors should plan ahead: SDG&E has announced two planned overnight power outages as part of ongoing reliability upgrades to the local electric grid.

The first outage is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, from 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Thursday. The second outage will follow on Tuesday, March 24, from 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Wednesday. Both outages are planned for infrastructure maintenance and system improvements, according to SDG&E.

"We understand these outages can be disruptive and appreciate your patience while we conduct this important work to build a more resilient electric system," SDG&E said in a statement.

Residents planning to visit Borrego Springs โ€” a popular East County desert destination known for its stargazing, wildflower blooms, and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park โ€” during those dates should be aware that overnight services and lodging may be affected.
