A Powerball ticket sold in Lakeside matched five numbers in Saturday night’s drawing and is worth $2,259,918, according to City News Service via ABC 10News.
The ticket was purchased at Americo Gas, 12402 Woodside Ave., in the unincorporated community of Lakeside. It missed only the Powerball number, meaning it did not win the full jackpot.
California Lottery prizes are paid on a pari-mutuel basis, so major payouts depend on ticket sales and the number of winners rather than a fixed $1 million or $2 million prize. The winning numbers Saturday were 1, 4, 19, 33 and 51, with Powerball 15.
No ticket matched all six numbers, pushing the estimated jackpot for Monday’s drawing to $538 million. For Santee and East County residents, the local win is a reminder to check tickets bought around Lakeside this weekend before the next drawing.
