Sharp Grossmont Hospital is now hosting a certified farmers market on its La Mesa campus, giving East County residents another Friday morning option for fresh food and local vendors, according to the East County Californian.

The market began in July and brings about 30 vendors to YOUnity Park every other Friday morning. Hospital officials told the publication that about 400 people typically stop by on market days, including employees, doctors, visitors and nearby residents.

Offerings described by the source include fresh fruits and vegetables, sourdough bread, whipped honey, artisan baked goods, prepared foods and specialty items. Vendors mentioned in the report include Gemini Twins Bakery, a La Mesa cottage bakery, as well as Los Tacos Barrios and Honey B's Beverage Co.
