Santee Library Extends Hours as Heat Advisory Hits Inland County

By Santee Pulse Staff · Published July 31, 2026 · 2 min read

Santee residents will have a local place to cool off this weekend as heat advisories take effect across San Diego County, according to the City of Santee.

The city said Cool Zones are free, air-conditioned spaces available when temperatures get very hot. The San Diego County Library’s Santee Branch is the nearest Cool Zone for Santee residents.

The National Weather Service issued heat advisories for San Diego County from 10 a.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday, the city said in its notice. In response, the Santee Branch Library will have extended hours Sunday, Aug. 2, from noon to 5 p.m.

For Santee families, older adults and anyone without reliable air conditioning, the library offers a practical nearby option during the hottest part of the weekend. Residents can also check the County of San Diego’s Cool Zones locator for additional sites.
