Organizers anticipate the largest San Diego County turnout yet for Saturday's No Kings 3 march, building on the estimated 80,000 people who mobilized countywide last October. Events are confirmed at 22 sites across the region, including three within or near East County.
For East County residents, here are the nearest events:
La Mesa — 10 a.m. to noon at the intersection of University Avenue and La Mesa Boulevard (8011 University Ave). Billed as a "Bill of Rights Festival," organizers describe it as a family-friendly unity walk through downtown La Mesa. Vice Mayor Lauren Cazares is scheduled to speak at 10 a.m.
El Cajon — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 415 Fletcher Parkway.
Ramona — 4 to 6 p.m. at 10th Street and Main Street.
The main San Diego rally runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Waterfront Park (1600 Pacific Hwy) with a march beginning at 10:45 a.m. Confirmed speakers include San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chair Terra Lawson-Remer and Supervisor Paloma Aguirre. Speakers are available for media interviews beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The No Kings coalition — which includes Indivisible, the ACLU, and the AFL-CIO — says participants are mobilizing in defense of democratic institutions, civil liberties, and social programs. The national mobilization is scheduled across hundreds of U.S. cities simultaneously.
