San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Lemon Grove resident Thursday after a man was found shot inside an accessory-dwelling unit at a home on El Dora Street, according to NBC 7 San Diego and the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies from the Lemon Grove and Rancho San Diego sheriff’s stations responded around 4 a.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon involving a firearm in the 2100 block of El Dora Street. Deputies entered the home and found a man bleeding from at least one gunshot wound to the chest area. He was pronounced dead shortly after life-saving efforts, according to NBC 7.

Sheriff’s officials said deputies found Eric Nunez, 33, in the driveway and arrested him without incident. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of murder. Investigators also located a semi-automatic handgun on the property, according to Lt. Juan Marquez.

The victim’s identity had not been released pending confirmation and family notification. Officials said Nunez’s relationship to the victim, the circumstances of the shooting and a possible motive were not immediately clear.

For East County residents, the case is another reminder that major sheriff’s investigations often draw resources from multiple nearby stations. Sheriff’s officials said the incident appears isolated and that there is no known threat to the community. Anyone with information can call the Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
