A free workshop in Julian on Thursday, Aug. 6, will give area homeowners guidance on wildfire insurance, disaster coverage and policy limits, according to East County Magazine.
The presentation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Community Room B at the Julian Library, 1850 state Route 78. East County Magazine reported that the event is hosted by the nonprofit Backcountry Communities Thriving.
The session is expected to cover California FAIR Plan options, ways to review disaster coverage and home-hardening improvements that may qualify for premium discounts. Attendees also will learn how to evaluate whether current policy limits would cover recovery costs after a major loss.
Although the meeting is in Julian, the topic reaches beyond the backcountry. Santee and East County residents live near wildfire-prone corridors, and insurance availability has become a regular concern for inland homeowners.
More information is available through Backcountry Communities Thriving, with East County Magazine serving as the source for the event details.
