Two Victims Identified After Deadly Julian Crash

Two people who died in an April 4 collision in Julian have been identified as Jesus Canales Lopez, 66, and Maria Del Carmen Contreras Albino, 48, according to East County Magazine.

The crash happened around 2:49 p.m. on westbound State Route 78, just west of Mastros Trailer Park, when two pickup trucks collided and both vehicles overturned multiple times.

Law enforcement and fire personnel responded after 911 calls. Fire personnel extricated the woman from the vehicle and attempted lifesaving measures, but both victims were declared dead at the scene at 3:34 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. from blunt force injuries.

East County Magazine reported that no place of residence for either victim was listed on the county medical examiner's website.
