Highland Fire in Ramona Stopped at 5 Acres as Crews Hold Structure Threat

A vegetation fire in Ramona that threatened nearby structures Tuesday afternoon had its forward progress stopped by 2:05 p.m., according to CAL FIRE and East County News Service.

The Highland Fire was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the 14950 block of Highland Valley Road in Ramona. CAL FIRE initially estimated the fire at four acres with an immediate structure threat before Watch Duty later reported the burn area at five acres.

Watch Duty also reported that four air tankers and one helicopter were released from the incident, with two helicopters and Air Attack remaining committed.

No injuries, structure losses, or cause details were included in the initial public updates Tuesday afternoon.
