A Fallbrook man has been arrested for murder and attempted murder following a shooting that left one person dead and another injured on March 16, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the Fallbrook Sheriff's Substation responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at approximately 8:00 p.m. in the 3800 block of E. Mission Road in Fallbrook. Upon arrival, they found two adult males suffering from traumatic injuries.
Despite life-saving efforts, one of the men succumbed to a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital and has since been released.
Michael Burke, a Fallbrook resident, was subsequently arrested for murder and attempted murder and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Detectives say the shooting occurred following an argument, and the incident appears to be isolated with no ongoing threat to the community.
