A former Christian High School teacher in El Cajon pleaded guilty this week to five felony sex-crime counts involving an underage girl, according to Patch and City News Service. Kevin Conover, 50, was arrested last year after sheriff's investigators received reports that he had abused a minor identified in court only as Jane Doe, the report said. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office was first alerted to the allegations in October, and Conover was arrested Dec. 16. Conover entered the guilty pleas Wednesday, one day before a scheduled preliminary hearing. Patch reported that the criminal complaint alleged abuse between 2015 and 2019, with the first alleged incident occurring when the victim was 7 years old. The victim was not a student of Conover's, according to a statement from Christian Unified Schools of San Diego's superintendent cited in the report. Conover is scheduled to be sentenced July 31. The case has East County relevance because it involves Christian High School in neighboring El Cajon.
