El Cajon police are again asking for public help in the unsolved homicide of Alicia Ledezma Sanchez, whose body was found in a wooded area in El Cajon in the summer of 1998, according to East County Magazine, citing the El Cajon Police Department.
Investigators determined Sanchez's death was the result of foul play. The department's Cold Case Homicide Unit continues to seek information from anyone who may know about her activities, associates or the events leading up to the discovery on Aug. 13, 1998.
Police said information that seemed minor at the time could still be valuable to investigators. East County Magazine reported that the department is especially interested in hearing from people who may not have previously shared what they know.
For Santee and East County residents, the renewed appeal is a reminder that long-running cases can still depend on local memory and community tips. Anyone with information is asked to contact the El Cajon Police Department's Investigation Division at (619) 579-3320 or email ColdHomicideUnit@elcajon.gov.
Detective Pedro Meza said information from the public could help investigators determine what happened and provide long-awaited answers in the case, according to East County Magazine.
