El Cajon is moving ahead with traffic safety upgrades on Jamacha Road after months of neighborhood advocacy over crashes and speeding concerns, according to ABC 10News.\n\nThe planned work includes speed limit markings painted on the roadway, new striping, additional traffic signs, a speed feedback radar sign and rumble strips in targeted areas. El Cajon police also plan increased patrols where speeding has been a persistent concern.\n\nOne major piece of the work is a guardrail along Jamacha Road near Gustavo Street, where homes sit close to the roadway. ABC 10News reported that the city expects the guardrail work to move forward within the next 60 to 90 days.\n\nFor Santee and East County drivers, the project is another reminder that traffic safety complaints can turn into concrete street changes when residents organize around specific problem areas.
