El Cajon residents and city officials met Thursday evening to discuss dangerous driving conditions and possible street safety fixes, according to ABC 10News.
The town hall was held at Meridian Elementary School and included community members, city leaders, traffic engineers and law enforcement officers, ABC 10News reported. Much of the discussion focused on Jamacha Road, where residents raised concerns about speeding, distracted driving and reckless behavior.
Resident Adela Parra told ABC 10News that the large turnout showed the traffic situation needs attention. She said neighbors near Gustavo Street and Jamacha Road regularly see incidents involving high speeds or distracted driving.
The issue matters beyond El Cajon because Jamacha Road and nearby arterials are part of the daily East County driving network, including for Santee residents traveling through El Cajon, Rancho San Diego and Spring Valley.
City leaders and residents said the discussions will continue as they look for solutions to improve traffic safety across El Cajon neighborhoods.
