An Alpine community initiative is turning the spring weekend into a give-and-take for pet owners across East County. The Viejas Pop-Up Market, in partnership with local community members, is hosting a Pet Food and Supply Drive on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Viejas Pit Stop, 5454 Willows Road in Alpine.

Organizers are accepting a wide range of donations including dog and cat food, treats, grooming supplies, new pet toys, feeding bowls, beds, blankets, crates and carriers, leashes, collars, litter boxes, and litter. All donated items must be clean and disinfected; pet food must be unopened and unexpired.

The drive is also open in the other direction. East County residents who need supplies for their pets can reach out directly to organizers at alpinecares4pets@gmail.com to inquire about available items.
