A new kind of fitness center is coming to Santee, and it was built with older adults in mind from the ground up.
Wise Owl Fit and Live Life Physiotherapy, billed as Santee's first fitness facility designed exclusively for adults 55 and older, will hold its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Saturday, March 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Santee Chamber of Commerce will host the event.
The facility is the vision of Dr. Karl Burris, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the founder. Wise Owl Fit focuses on helping older adults build strength, improve balance, and maintain independence through expert-led fitness classes in a supportive community setting. The adjoining Live Life Physiotherapy clinic offers personalized, one-on-one sessions targeting fall prevention, balance training, post-surgical rehabilitation, and general strength.
The grand opening celebration will include tours of the new facility, complimentary food and refreshments, live music from Sunset Sound Productions, and raffle prizes including gift baskets and smartwatches. Local organizations serving older adults will also be on-site with resources. As a grand opening special, new members can sign up at 50% off their first month.
The opening adds to a growing wave of new businesses taking root in Santee, and fills a gap many older East County residents have noted: a fitness environment where workouts are designed around their specific needs rather than adapted from programs built for younger populations.
The ribbon cutting is free and open to the public. More information is available at wiseowlfit.com.
