The Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College is rebuilding its public programming after facing an uncertain future tied to financial troubles, according to East County Magazine.

Garden operations director Lauren Magnuson told East County Magazine that educational programs are returning, displays are expanding and the garden is again planning signature festivals and events. The revived offerings include fire-wise landscaping displays, a topic that remains especially relevant across inland East County.

The Rancho San Diego garden also hosted its Spring Garden Festival and Butterfly Release on Saturday, May 2, according to the report. East County Magazine linked the update to a KNSJ Radio interview with Magnuson about the garden’s next chapter.

For Santee residents, the garden is a short drive and a practical stop for drought-tolerant landscaping ideas, wildfire-conscious yard planning and family-friendly environmental education. As hotter, drier months approach, the return of hands-on programs gives East County households another local place to learn how to cut water use without giving up outdoor spaces.
