Marine Corps Air Station Miramar — a major hub for Marine aviation — sits within city limits, while Naval Base San Diego and Naval Air Station North Island anchor a massive Navy presence in the region. Camp Pendleton, one of the country's largest Marine Corps bases, is located roughly 40 miles to the north. Thousands of active-duty service members based in the region could face deployment implications as the situation develops.
