San Diego County's average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline climbed back above $6 Friday, reaching $6.017, according to City News Service reporting published by Times of San Diego. The milestone marked the first time the county average had reached $6 since June 3.

The average has risen during 23 of the past 24 days, adding 33.5 cents over that stretch, according to figures cited from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The countywide average was 10.1 cents higher than a week earlier, 33.9 cents higher than a month earlier and $1.279 higher than a year earlier.

AAA linked the rise to oil prices near or above $100 a barrel amid continued supply concerns related to the Middle East conflict. National prices also rose, with the U.S. average reaching $4.295 after increases in 11 of the prior 12 days.
