Cooler, breezy weather and a chance of light rain are expected across the San Diego area through Tuesday before warmer conditions return later in the week, according to KPBS and the National Weather Service.
KPBS reported that a deepening marine layer could bring patchy drizzle to coastal areas and inland valleys, with the best chance for light showers along and west of the mountains Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Winds were expected to increase into the evening, reaching 35 to 45 mph in parts of the region with gusts up to 55 mph.
Monday and Tuesday are expected to be the coolest days of the week, with highs in the 60s for areas west of the mountains and 40s to near 50 in the mountains. Wednesday is forecast as a transition day, with drier weather and temperatures near average.
Warmer weather is expected to begin Thursday and continue into the end of the week. KPBS reported that highs could run near 10 degrees above normal away from the coast, with 70s and 80s dominating coastal and valley regions while the low deserts could approach 100 degrees by Thursday or Friday.
For Santee residents, the main takeaway is a short window for drizzle and gusty conditions before a warmer stretch arrives. Drivers should watch for slick roads if light rain develops, especially during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning periods.
