Two Santee food facilities were ordered temporarily closed May 4 after San Diego County health inspections, then approved to reopen the next day, according to county SD Food Info records reviewed by Santee Pulse.
Einstein Bros. Bagels #3325, at 9872 Mission Gorge Road, was ordered closed May 4 after inspectors recorded a major vermin violation and floors, walls and ceilings listed as out of compliance. County records show a May 5 reinspection marked the location "Approved to Reopen," followed by a May 5 routine inspection with a 100 score and A grade.
Omelette Factory, at 8860 N. Magnolia Avenue, Suite B, was also ordered closed May 4. County records list proper handwashing facilities and holding temperatures as minor out-of-compliance items, vermin as a major violation, and wiping cloths plus floors, walls and ceilings as out of compliance. County records show the restaurant was approved to reopen May 5, then received a 99 score and A grade on a May 5 routine inspection, with equipment and utensil storage/use listed as out of compliance.
The closures were also included in SanDiegoVille's weekly roundup of San Diego County restaurant closures and downgrades for May 1 through May 7.
Under county rules, a food facility may be subject to closure when a major violation cannot be immediately corrected or a suitable alternative cannot be found. The county says a facility must remain closed until the Department of Environmental Health and Quality gives written authorization to reopen.
