Mail ballots for California’s June 2 Statewide Direct Primary Election are expected to begin arriving next week, with Santee voters weighing in on statewide and congressional races that include the city, according to Patch.

Santee city offices are not part of the June primary. Patch reported that the city’s local election for City Council Districts 1 and 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.

Patch’s guide also highlighted races elsewhere in San Diego County, including the Board of Supervisors District 5 contest, and several congressional races. The 48th Congressional District is especially relevant locally because the district includes Santee, along with parts of San Diego and Riverside counties.

Patch reported that Rep. Darrell Issa is retiring at the end of his term and that Supervisor Jim Desmond is running for the 48th District seat. The guide also noted that voters can use the San Diego County Registrar of Voters’ sample ballot lookup tool to see the races tied to their specific address.

For Santee residents, the practical takeaway is simple: the June ballot is not a city-council election, but it still includes races that could affect East County representation in Sacramento and Congress.
