The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory Friday afternoon for San Diego County inland valleys, including the Santee area, from 10 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Monday.
Forecasters said inland San Diego County could see temperatures from 90 to 102 degrees during the advisory period. The alert also covers inland Orange County, the Inland Empire, Riverside County mountains, San Diego County mountains and the Santa Ana Mountains and foothills.
The weather service said hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses and advised residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors.
For Santee families, the timing matters because the advisory covers the weekend and the Monday commute. Residents with outdoor work, youth sports, pets or older family members should plan around the hottest part of the day and watch for updated guidance from the National Weather Service.
