Yolanda Marodi pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of her wife, Cal Fire Capt. Rebecca "Becky" Marodi, at their Ramona home, according to Times of San Diego.

Times of San Diego, citing City News Service, reported that Marodi, 54, admitted killing Rebecca Marodi at the couple's Rancho Villa Road home on Feb. 17, 2025. She is expected to be sentenced next month to 36 years to life in state prison.

The guilty plea also included admissions connected to a serious prior felony conviction, according to the report. Times of San Diego reported that the prior case involved a voluntary manslaughter conviction in San Bernardino County more than 20 years ago.

Rebecca Marodi had worked for Cal Fire for more than 30 years and died at the scene, according to the article. The case has drawn attention across East County because Ramona is part of the region's rural fire country and because of Marodi's long career with the state firefighting agency.
