A 64-year-old man was seriously injured Sunday after a parking dispute outside a Lakeside home escalated into violence, according to NBC 7 San Diego.
The confrontation happened on Petite Lane, where Andy York was shoved into a culvert and fell about four feet, NBC 7 reported. York’s wife told the station the fall broke two bones in one of his legs.
Authorities said the man accused of shoving York faces a felony charge of battery causing serious bodily injury. His name has not been released, and the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case, according to NBC 7.
Home security video described by NBC 7 shows York approaching a group about parking in what his family said was a private drive marked as a no-parking area. The footage appears to show York being shoved twice during the exchange, with the second shove sending him into the culvert.
For Santee and East County residents, the incident is a reminder that neighborhood parking disputes can turn serious quickly. NBC 7 reported that neighbors near Lindo and Petite lanes said illegal parking has been a long-running frustration in the area.
