Sheriff's investigators and San Diego County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect in a Spring Valley shooting that injured a woman in July, according to East County Magazine.

The shooting was reported at 11:30 p.m. July 17 in the 10200 block of Challenger Boulevard. Deputies found a woman with a single gunshot wound to the ankle, and she was treated at a hospital for injuries described as not life-threatening.

Detective Nicolai Ramos said investigators learned the woman had been attending a party when two men argued in the street and the dispute escalated into gunfire. The woman was not the intended target and did not know the men involved, according to the report.

The suspect fled, and no suspect description was released. Investigators are asking anyone with information about additional witnesses, victims or evidence connected to the shooting to call the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station at (619) 660-7090.

Crime Stoppers is also accepting anonymous tips at (888) 580-8477 and is offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Source: East County Magazine.
