La Mesa police are asking the public for help after a woman was found critically injured in a neighborhood near Lake Murray last week.

The 38-year-old victim was found unconscious and bleeding from the head shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, April 30, in the 8200 block of Parkway Drive, according to NBC 7 San Diego, citing La Mesa police. She remained hospitalized in critical condition as of Wednesday.

Detectives are seeking a person of interest described as a bearded, dark-haired man who was in the area around the time of the assault. NBC 7 reported that police said he was wearing blue pants, white shoes and a blue sweatshirt with “San Diego” printed on the front.

The case is a short drive from Santee and near a corridor many East County residents use around Lake Murray, Grossmont and La Mesa. Police have not announced an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or submit a tip at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
