Jamul Casino Resort has been awarded AAA’s Four Diamond designation, a recognition for hotels and restaurants that meet higher standards for style, amenities, service and consistency.

According to East County Magazine, the designation comes about a year after the resort debuted a 16-story hotel tower as part of its shift from a gaming-only property into a broader destination resort. The 2025 expansion added 200 rooms, including 52 suites and a penthouse, plus a rooftop pool, full-service spa and expanded dining options.

AAA says Four Diamond properties represent a relatively small share of inspected hotels. East County Magazine reported that about 6 percent of AAA-inspected hotels receive the rating, with roughly 1,750 hotels currently at the Four Diamond level.

The Jamul property is owned and operated by the Jamul Indian Village of California. Resort President and General Manager Mary Cheeks said the designation reflects the vision behind the hotel tower and its focus on higher standards for luxury and service.

For East County residents, the recognition is another sign of how tribal gaming properties have become a major part of the region’s hospitality and employment landscape. East County Magazine reported that Jamul Casino Resort generally operates with more than 1,000 employees.
