An El Cajon woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she stabbed another woman, fled across Interstate 8 and later assaulted an officer.
Officers responded around 11:20 a.m. to the 1000 block of Prince Street after a reported assault, according to Patch, citing the El Cajon Police Department. Police found a woman with multiple stab wounds to her arm and torso, provided medical aid and had her taken to a hospital.
The suspect, identified by police as 39-year-old Veronica Flores, fled the area and ran across Interstate 8, according to Patch. Officers used a department drone to track her movements and guide officers to her location.
Police said Flores was armed with a knife when officers tried to detain her. Officers used a Taser and took her into custody. While she was being taken to jail, police said, Flores assaulted an officer and caused an injury.
Flores was booked into Las Colinas Women's Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee on multiple felony charges. Police said the victim and suspect did not know each other, and anyone with information may contact El Cajon police or San Diego County Crime Stoppers.
