San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson hosted Board Chair Pro Tem Paloma Aguirre for a tour of East County this week focused on underserved communities, infrastructure and public services, according to East County Magazine.
The tour included stops in El Cajon, Lakeside, Descanso, Campo and Jacumba Hot Springs. East County Magazine reported that the supervisors visited the Magnolia Safe Parking Site, the El Cajon Crisis Stabilization Unit, creek areas in Lakeside, Lindo Lake, and rural fire and library facilities.
Anderson said the tour was meant to show how county decisions affect East County communities in areas including public safety, homelessness and infrastructure. Aguirre said District 1 and District 2 share a goal of helping underserved communities become stronger centers of economic opportunity.
For Santee residents, the visit matters because many of the same county-level issues cross city lines: homelessness response, creek maintenance, behavioral health services, public safety resources and investment in East County infrastructure. The tour did not announce a specific Santee project, but it kept the broader East County region in front of county leadership.
