San Diego is hosting a weekend of international soccer as San Diego FC, Snapdragon Stadium, Sports San Diego and Lions Sports & Media stage the Countdown to '26 event, according to East County Magazine.

The event includes two pre-World Cup friendly matches at Snapdragon Stadium. Switzerland was scheduled to play Australia at noon Saturday, June 6, followed by Colombia vs. Jordan at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 7.

All four nations are headed to the FIFA World Cup, which is being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer. East County Magazine reported that Switzerland and New Zealand have made San Diego their home base during the tournament.

For Santee and East County fans, the practical angle is transportation. The Green Line trolley runs directly to Stadium Station, and free parking is available at several transit hubs, including El Cajon Transit Center, Grossmont Transit Center and Amaya Drive.
