Construction for the County of San Diego's Sewer Rehabilitation Project at Walker Preserve is scheduled to begin Monday, July 13, according to the City of Santee.

The city said the trail will remain open during most of the work, but it will be reduced to a 12-foot width so trail users, city maintenance crews and Fire Department access can continue through the project area.

A couple of temporary closures are expected when crews pull pipe liners. The city said notices will be provided in advance so residents can plan around those closures.

For Santee residents who use Walker Preserve for walking, biking or access along the San Diego River corridor, the main takeaway is that the trail is not closing for the full project. Users should still expect construction activity, narrowed access and short closures tied to specific work windows.

The City of Santee posted the construction notice Thursday, July 9, and said the work is part of a county sewer rehabilitation project at the preserve.
