Villa Musica is opening a second campus in Fletcher Hills as the nonprofit community music center marks its 20th anniversary, bringing expanded music instruction closer to East County families.
According to East County Magazine, the new site at 2382 Fletcher Parkway will add 10 studios and three offices, giving the organization room to expand beyond its packed Sorrento Valley headquarters. Villa Musica currently serves more than 500 private lesson students and another 200 people in group classes and ensembles.
Executive and artistic director Fiona Chatwin told the publication the East County expansion is meant to meet demand for arts education and build on the region’s existing arts community. She said the team hopes the new location becomes a positive local addition, with a community-centered layout that includes a lobby gathering space, a homework area and performance space, plus dedicated rooms for drums and early childhood music.
The rollout will happen in phases later this spring. Open house events are planned for May, June and July, followed by beginner group classes in June and July and a 15-week semester starting in August, according to the report.
For East County families, the new campus means shorter drives for music lessons and another arts option opening in the Fletcher Hills area. More information on open houses, classes and registration is expected on Villa Musica’s website starting May 1.
