A man convicted in the 2022 killing of his estranged wife in Spring Valley has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, according to East County Magazine.

The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office said Kandynn Wilson, 34, was sentenced after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and a lying-in-wait special circumstance in the death of Ericka J. Wilson. The case involved the killing of the mother of the couple’s young child.

According to prosecutors cited by East County Magazine, Wilson drove from Oakland to the victim’s apartment complex in January 2022 and waited for her to return from work. Prosecutors said he attacked her near midnight after she pulled into the parking area.

District Attorney Summer Stephan said the case showed the danger of intimate partner violence and thanked the jury, law enforcement and prosecution team. East County Magazine reported that Deputy District Attorney Alexandra Lorens prosecuted the case.

For Santee and East County readers, the sentencing is a reminder that domestic violence cases often unfold across neighborhood lines. Anyone in immediate danger should call 911; local victims can also seek help through county domestic violence resources.
