The heightened posture is described as a precautionary measure to deter anyone who might try to exploit the geopolitical situation to cause fear or harm locally.\n\n"SDPD is monitoring events in Iran and the Middle East. Our patrol divisions and intelligence support are mindful of our religious institutions, cultural centers, and other sensitive locations throughout the city to deter anyone who may try to create fear or harm in our city," the department posted on social media.\n\nThe department asked the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 911 or 619-531-2000.
