Eligible San Diego Gas & Electric residential customers will receive two automatic electric bill credits this summer, according to Patch.
The credits are $49.36 each and will be applied to eligible electric bills in August and September. Patch reported that the credits are funded through California's Cap-and-Invest Program and administered by the California Public Utilities Commission.
All eligible residential electric customers are expected to receive the credits, including customers served through Community Choice Aggregation programs and residents in multi-unit properties with shared meters. Eligible residential natural gas customers received a $32.58 climate credit in April.
SDG&E also said customers are seeing lower energy costs through recent and upcoming rate reductions. Patch reported that an electric rate decrease took effect in June, a natural gas rate decrease began in July and another natural gas rate reduction is planned for August.
For Santee households, the timing matters because the credits arrive during peak summer cooling season, when inland East County homes often see higher electricity use.
