Santee teachers with classroom project ideas have a new grant window to watch this fall, according to Patch.
North Island Credit Union Foundation is accepting applications for its fall Teacher Grant program, which will award 10 teachers $500 each for classroom projects. The grants are open to full-time teachers in San Diego and Riverside counties, as well as active teachers who are North Island Credit Union members.
Projects should have clear learning objectives, demonstrate creativity and address a specific classroom or academic need, Patch reported. Applications are due Sept. 12, and teachers can apply online through the program.
For Santee families, the program is another small but useful funding option as local classrooms head into the new school year. The foundation has awarded $235,000 in teacher grants since the program began in 2012, supporting projects ranging from bridge-building and model houses to sensory gardens and other hands-on learning spaces.
