Santee residents will have a local option to donate blood July 1, when the San Diego County Credit Union branch at 286 Town Center Parkway hosts a San Diego Blood Bank drive, according to Patch.
The Santee drive is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is one of seven SDCCU locations across San Diego County taking part. Other listed sites include Encinitas, Escondido, Kearny Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, the SDCCU Operations Center and Solana Beach.
Organizers told Patch that community blood donations help local hospitals care for patients and that supplies are typically lower during the summer months. SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell said in a statement that the credit union encourages eligible residents to donate.
For Santee residents, the Town Center Parkway location puts the drive near the heart of the city, close to shopping, restaurants and the trolley corridor. Appointments are handled through the San Diego Blood Bank.
The July 1 drive follows a long-running partnership between SDCCU and the San Diego Blood Bank, which Patch reported has continued for more than 20 years.
